Kathy Graves

As the first face people see when entering the law office of Daniel, Daniel, & Newman, Kathy Graves knows she’s as responsible for making a positive first impression on clients as her boss, attorney Evan M. Newman, is. For Kathy, though, her engaging demeanor and friendliness are natural traits that clients say help immensely, especially for those who have never been in a law office or met with an attorney before.

For nearly 20 years, Kathy has worked for two incarnations of one of the area’s most heralded law practices. During the first 10 years of her career, she served at the Daniel Law Office with well-respected Grainger County attorney Creed Daniel and his late son, Dirk Daniel. Today, Kathy brings her skills, talents, and compassion to the rebranded Daniel, Daniel, & Newman, which Creed’s great-nephew Evan now owns and runs.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Kathy proudly responds, “It’s the interacting with clients, the logical and organization components of my work, and the fact that the work is so diverse. I love being able to help people and assist them in both exciting times and taxing times, as well as assisting Evan with his workload.”

Among her responsibilities are drafting legal documents; maintaining correspondence with courts and opposing counsel; engaging in legal research; managing document production and discovery; facilitating case management; coordinating hearings and depositions; and assisting Evan in trial preparation.

Kathy is known for her efficiency and ability to anticipate clients’ needs. Her extensive experience makes her an invaluable asset to Daniel, Daniel, & Newman’s personal injury, criminal defense, estate planning, family law/divorce, and real estate practices. Many clients agree, as does the community, which voted her “Best Secretary” in Grainger Today’s “Grainger County Favorites” readers’ poll.

Outside of work, Kathy serves as a church pianist and Sunday School teacher at New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. She also volunteers for Access-Life, an organization with the mission of “bridging the gap” to bring individuals and families affected by disabilities together with Christ-honoring churches, organizations, and people through wholesome and fun events and activities.

Kathy enjoys spending quality time with her husband and family, especially her three grandchildren, Marshall, Maddux, and Harrison. She also loves playing piano, reading, and being with Dove and Dice, her two Shih Tzus.
